Spoiling It For Everybody Else

Picture

Envy. The worst sin there is (Geoffrey Chaucer) or an increasingly necessary part of human advancement?
Using supremely lo-fi equipment not looted in the riots, words and some cakes, we go in search of the roots of jealousy, envy and entitlement.

If I was an envious person. Which I’m not. I wouldn’t in this moment, be comparing myself to a Russian gymnast from the 1920s. Or even a builder from Norwich the same age as me. I’d most likely be comparing myself to people a bit like me, in the rough field I’m in, geographically not too far from me, living right now. Not everything local is necessarily good. And envy is only triggered when after the comparison, you come up short.
Dealing with Envy – 3 LOOK AROUND YOU
Have you got enough things that other people will envy to make you relax and stop envying others?

A new conversation/show/display of bad behaviour, first performed with Rosie Kelly at SHOWTiME at the Riverside Studios in October 2011, in development in 2012.
