At Home with the Farmishteh Family

Picture
My latest show/event is a collaboration with Judy Batalion (www.judybatalion.com); a dinner in my house for up to 10 people. Deconstructing the nature of the dinner party, this is a participatory evening looking at cultural and national behaviours around food, dining and strangers. Featuring absent hosts, a meal, a series of menu conversation topics and a number of 'ettiquette cards' which dictate your behaviour and attitude for parts of the evening. We ran pilots of this evening twice in July 2010 with the JCC and are now refining the event for future diners in London and New York.

RSPLB - Glastonbury 2010

Picture
Tucked away in the beautiful Park Field, you can find a haven from the Glastonbury hordes. The Royal Society for the Pursuit of Love Birds is part bird-watchers' hide, part love-matching emporium. Join us for Bird Bingo, 10 minute relationships, mating-dances and Bill Oddie's mixtape playing in the background. This was a performance conceived by Lottie Leadham/Celia Willis .

When I first met you I thought I had Gastroenteritis

Picture
This is a one-on-one (or one-on-not very many) show/encounter about how love can make your guts fall out. It features you, me, a dollar bill, a story about first queer love, a list of new york toilets, balloon modelling and a shot of pepto bismol for the both of us. Most recently shown at the Soho Theatre toilets as part of Scratch Interact.

Audience Feedback
'Fun, quirky, relaxed and interesting'
'Made me feel open and engaged but not at all vulnerable - the Catholic Church should ditch their confessionals and put in toilets instead'

The Three Minute Panto

Picture
Can you perform a whole panto in less than three minutes? Oh yes you can! Featuring all the requisites including drag, a panto horse and a food fight.  Performed with Brian Lobel as part of Lone Twin's 'Cabaret Simon' at the Barbican, London for a marvellous audience of small people and the big ones associated with them. There are some lovely reviews here: http://http//www.guardian.co.uk/stage/2009/dec/18/cabaret-simon-review

Unto Us a Child is Born

Picture
A performance piece about thinking that you are a boy, realising that you aren’t and working out what you are going to do about it. It also examines all the muscles in the face and how we use them to say a lot of words that never allow us to say what we need to. It asks questions like: why does it take 4 minutes to say goodbye on the phone to your mother, how many pull ups can you do and is it odd to be dropped off at Hebrew School in your Dad’s Volvo as it blares out Handel’s Messiah.

Unto Us a Child is Born is a solo performance that looks at the contradictions of tomboy identities, how, when and if you can escape the grip of your family, and why it might be important to be able to lift your own weight.

First shown as part of the EEC platform at QMU, recently shown at RichMix, London.

'A cleverly constructed, beautifully performed, witty and moving piece'
